Model not showing in Claude Code?

Some StartupAPI models may not appear in Claude Code’s built-in model picker. A model missing from the picker does NOT necessarily mean it is unavailable through StartupAPI.

StartupAPI’s public catalog, Claude Code’s picker, and StartupAPI customer routing are separate availability surfaces. The access label on each model below states which StartupAPI routing tier can use it.

Claude Sonnet

A balanced choice for coding, analysis, and longer workflows.

Claude Opus

Designed for the most demanding reasoning and complex project work.

Exact availability depends on the enabled customer catalog. Do not copy an identifier from an old guide or assume every family shares the same context window.

Standard vs Max

Every StartupAPI key uses either Standard or Max routing.

New API keys start on Standard by default. You can switch an existing key between Standard and Max from your dashboard without generating a new API key.

Default route

Claude Standard

Best for lower-cost everyday Claude usage.

Standard gives you access to the main Claude model families available through StartupAPI, including the supported Haiku, Sonnet and Opus identifiers listed below.

Standard traffic is routed through Kiro via PayGo and is designed to give customers the lowest-cost practical route for regular Claude API and Claude Code usage.

Use Standard when:

You want the lowest available pricing.
You primarily use Haiku, Sonnet or Opus.
You do not need Max-only models.

Fable route

Claude Max

Built specifically for Fable access.

Max is reserved for Fable. Haiku, Sonnet and Opus use Standard.

Max uses StartupAPI’s dedicated Max routing infrastructure. The underlying upstream provider and routing implementation are not publicly disclosed.

Claude Standard

StartupAPI Standard traffic is routed through Kiro via PayGo.

This is our lower-cost routing path for supported Claude models.

Fable route

Claude Max

StartupAPI Max traffic uses our dedicated Max routing infrastructure.

The underlying upstream provider and routing implementation are not publicly disclosed.

Max is the dedicated routing path for its exclusive model.

Claude Standard and Claude Max use separate routing paths.
